A New Year

Last night marks the first night in -and I’m not exaggerating one bit- sixteen years that I did not drink a drop of alcohol on New Years eve… and I could not be more happy about that.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a regular drinker – not excessive per se since it’s the frequency in which I drink and not really the quantity. So practically any special occasion I’m going to have a beer or two… heck, our whole family does, it’s in our blood! But in this new year I’ve decided to try and be a little more healthy. Since I eat well and excersice regularly, being more healthy for me means drinking a little less, sleeping better, and just being more happy (i.e. reduce stress). Luckily for me, all of these things are related to each other in some respect.

I decided not to drink last night for one because of practicality; we needed a designated driver and didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on a cab so I volunteered. But on a more personal note, I’m hoping it will mark the beinging of my journey to a more healthy and happy me. What’s more, not getting drunk provides instant gratification; I was so looking forward to waking up this morning and not feeling like crap and I’ll tell ya… it has definitely paid off! I feel great and am already looking forward to a great 2015.

Here’s to another trip around the sun! Cheers!
