It’s the last day of 2014 and it is a beautifully clear morning! I walk outside to Jupiter –the king of planets– shining magnificently in front of me, then to the south, Corvus the crow floating above the trees, and straight overhead climbed Ursa Major, the Great Bear. Dawn’s early pink light was just starting to make an appearance as a thin line over the eastern horizon. It is a beautiful morning to the eyes, but frigid to the skin. At -10ºC I could only take in the sight for a few moments but what a few moments they were…
