Cold 38°F? 12:25am 1st clear night since last entry. Full moon tomorrow – pretty poor skies. -One really cool thing- The moon is almost full and almost at zenith. Ice crystals in the atmosphere (similar to high wispy clouds) reflecting moonlight to create a ‘halo’ effect 4 ‘fists’ in diameter. HUGE halo. Beautiful. Perfectly round.
55°F 8:00pm-8:40pm Chilly. No moon or clouds, but still relatively bad skies, too bright. *Big meteor! First glance up, I saw a meteor shoot from about the zenith to 15° to the east. Saw Andromeda but unimpressive. Too poor skies. *Comet 17P/Holmes Visible w/ naked eye, looks like a medium/bright star. Also viewed through binoculars, […]
63°F 7:45pm Huge moon! -Windy, scattered small clouds – clear. Largest full moon of 2007. -The moon will reach it’s full phase within a few hours of perigee.
54°F 6:30am Really clear moonless morning. Stepped outside for maybe 3 minutes and saw 2 awesome meteors! -One left a trail that lasted a good second or two. -Cool start to the day-
66°F 8:00pm-8:15pm Fair, no clouds. Bright sky due to bright waxing moon. Nice moon crater and surface feature view. Nice view of Jupiter and 4 moons but low in the sky. Blurry due to atmosphere
55°F 4:50am-6:00am 1st good, cool, crisp, moonless morning of observing. Orion high in the south. Venus is still really bright. (waxing/waning?) First Saturn view – awesome! Full rings and 3 moons. Mars is kinda bright, too small. Orion nebula -2nd time seeing- Incredible, love this one. Pleiades -best through binoculars- *Saw 4 meteors. 2 really […]
54°F 8:05pm Clear but poor skies (light pollution). -Only binoculars- Andromeda, Holmes comet, Jupiter… & 2 circumpolar, slow moving (high?) satellites.
In 2005, Jeffrey Fisher Sr., Ian Holmes, Andy Sisinger and I completed the construction of the Yellow House Recording Studio. Below is a gallery featuring images of the construction process. The Yellow House Recording Studio recorded dozens of artists including jazz saxophonist Gene Walker.
